Please join us as Dan Chenoweth, CPA/MBA presents on Understanding Financial Statements.
Every organization requires a “Scorecard” to determine if it is successful. This “scorecard” is generally called “Financial Statements.” The “Big 3” financial statements are the Balance Sheet, the Income Statement and the Statement of Cash Flows. Each statement has its own purpose and all three statements are inter-related. Combined, the financial statements tell the organization’s business story to its employees, customers, vendors, bankers and the community at large.
Program Highlights:
- Context – The Balance of Measures. Successful organizations have metrics focused on each of their four key stakeholders: customers, shareholders, employees and the community at large. We will discuss how financial metrics fit with the Balance of Measures.
- The Big 3 – We will explain the purpose and provide an overview of the three primary financial statements compiled by every organization:
o Balance Sheet – a snapshot in time
o Income Statement – the “moving” picture
o Statement of Cash Flows – At the end of the day, cash is still “King”
We will also discuss how each of these financial statements is inter-related.
- Key Ratio Analysis – Once financial statements have been compiled, even more and better information is available by combining some of the numbers to produce key ratios.
