Please join the Mile High Chapter Education Committee at our monthly luncheon on June 18, 2020 starting at 11:45 am, Kevin Allen and Jennifer Schlatter of Allen Vellone Wolf Helfrich & Factor will present on "You say COVID and I say Covfefe - Let's Call the Whole Thing Off!"  In the era of COVID, the nuts and bolts issues on how to open an office, including how to maintain records for contact tracing, reporting COVID cases and associated issues, and in understanding the applicability of the Americans with Disability Act, the FMLA, and other associated federal and state claims based to COVID related issues.

Session Objectives:  

  • Assisting such professionals in identifying the applicability of federal statutes to COVID-based issues, and
  • Assisting Human Resource professional in the understanding the practical aspects of office practices, and
  • Providing guidance to such professionals as to how to avoid legal claims based on these statutes.

Kevin D. Allen specializes his practice in employment law and commercial litigation. In the area of employment law, Kevin is experienced in matters involving federal and state civil rights litigation, restrictive covenant and misappropriation of trade secrets litigation and other business tort litigation arising out of the employment setting. He is also experienced in providing counsel regarding a full range of other personnel and workplace issues, primarily on behalf of employers. Kevin is a Martindale-Hubbell AV rated attorney and has been named a Colorado Super Lawyer since 2007.

               Jennifer Schlatter

Jennifer E. Schlatter focuses her practice on protecting and enforcing intellectual property rights, including: trademark prosecution, counseling, licensing and enforcement, including representation of clients in trademark proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office; copyrights prosecution, counseling, licensing and enforcement; international trademark and copyright issues; IP and related litigation, including trademark infringement, false advertising, copyright infringement, misappropriation of trade secrets and unfair competition; publishing related transactions, including preparation and negotiation of publishing agreements; and transactional entertainment law. She represents individual artists in preparing and negotiating business agreements, and protecting and licensing intellectual property rights. Jennifer assists clients in entertainment-related matters as well.  Jennifer’s practice also includes the representation of clients in the area of employment law, including litigation of discrimination, restrictive covenant litigation, and advising clients regarding various personnel and workplace issues.

CLM Application Credit for Functional Specialists:  1.0 hour in the subject area of Human Resources Management toward the additional hours required of some Functional Specialists to fulfill the CLM application requirements.

CLM Recertification Credit:  1.0 hour in the subject area of Human Resources Management.
