2021 Law Firm Management Luncheon - Ethics Lessons from the Cockpit

Please join the Mile High Chapter Education Committee at our Law Firm Management Luncheon on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at The Curtis Hotel. Each Mile High Chapter ALA Regular Member may register 2 attorneys from their office to attend the luncheon at no additional charge. Charles F. Luce, Jr. will present on Ethics Lessons from the Cockpit. In his presentation Mr. Luce will discuss ethics and attorney risk management through the lens of risk management techniques and protocols employed by pilots.
He will take a deeper dive into the following rules and ethics issues:
- Rule 1.1 – Competency
- Rule 1.15A – Trust Account Management
- Rule 1.7 – Avoiding Conflicts of Interest
- Rule 7.1 – Advertising Rules
- Rule 5.1 – Responsibilities of a Partner or Supervisory Lawyer
- Rule 5.2 – Responsibilities of a Subordinate Lawyer
- Rule 5.4 – Developing and exercising professional detachment and independent professional judgment
Charles F. Luce, Jr. is a partner with the Denver law firm Moye|White LLP, Chair of its Intellectual Property Group, and Co-Chair of its Law Practice Professionals Group. A graduate of the universities of Colorado (B.A.) and Oregon (J.D.), Mr. Luce, is a frequent author and speaker on the impact of technology on legal ethics and the practice of law. Mr. Luce has served as a Lecturer in Law in Professional Responsibility at the University of Denver, and since 1986 as a member of the Colorado Bar Association's Ethics Committee. He is the publisher of Charles Luce on Legal Ethics and the Practice of Law, the first Internet website devoted to Colorado legal ethics issues, and a blog of the same name, ColoradoLegalEthics.com.

This program has been approved for 1.0 General CLE credits, 1.0 Ethics Credits from the Colorado Supreme Court, Board of Continuing Legal & Judicial Education.
CLM Application Credit for Functional Specialists: 1.0 hour in the subject area of Legal Industry / Business Management toward the additional hours required of some Functional Specialists to fulfill the CLM application requirements.
CLM Recertification Credit: 1.0 hour in the subject area of Legal Industry / Business Management.
