This year the Community Relations Committee is working with DHS GIVE Center to raise awareness and funds in support of access to food and food insecurity.  In 2021, 8.1% of Coloradans reported eating less than they felt they should because there wasn’t enough money for food in the last 12 months. Denver Human Services provides assistance, benefits, and protection and prevention services to one in three Denver residents. DHS envisions a healthy and connected community where all people are safe, supported and well.  For more information, visit:  www.denvergov.org/humanservices.  Since 2011, the GIVE Center has collected and distributed household, childcare, and personal goods to Denver families in need by donation. In 2022, the GIVE Center served over 4,100 households with emergency hygiene items. Thousands of Denver residents visit the GIVE Center every year for assistance with critical resources. Seventy percent of visitors are experiencing homelessness. The annual drive ensures Denver residents have ongoing support with their safety and health, especially during affordability challenges.
