Today's Webinar is: The Basics of Understanding and Working with Government Contracts
Flying at a high level, this presentation will provide a context for recognizing and working with common types of government contracts. Government agencies accomplish many of their responsibilities through a variety of contracting mechanisms. You will learn about legal and policy requirements that present unique challenges in government contracting and some best practices for handling contract documents and monitoring contract performance.
Objectives:
- Identify common types of contracts entered into by all levels of government
- Recognize unique government contracting issues such as competitive process and public disclosure requirements
- Determine best practices for contract management

CLMSM Recertification Credit: 1 hour in the subject area of Legal Industry/Business Management (LI)

Speaker:
Suzanne Shaw is a former assistant attorney general and senior counsel for the state of Washington Attorney General’s Office. Her 20-year public practice centered on open government, administrative law, constitutional law and government contracting, with an emphasis on IT procurement. Shaw is now in private practice with Gallitano & O’Connor LLP, a nationally-recognized law firm that represents public and private sector organizations and businesses in technology and outsourcing transactions.
